Picnic at the NEW Park

There is a new park in town, and it's fabulous! The old fort down by the beach got wiped out by Katrina. They have replaced it with a huge pavilion with a look-out upstairs, a lawn area with a stage, and amazing playground, and a simple splash pad. When we first scoped it out and spied the barbecue grills we knew what we would be doing the rest of the day! Friends joined us for a cook-out and some play. Then the girls went fishing on the fishing pier right across the street from the park. Haley caught her first salt-water fish! Such a great day; we'll have to do it again soon!

Just like Vietnam, only closer

Yup. That's Texas. At least according to Jenna! Well, maybe not the whole state, but certainly a neighborhood of Houston. We enjoyed a long weekend with family. The kids always enjoy the Children's Museum, and on this particular day, they were celebrating the Moon Festival and the grand opening of their new Vietnam exhibit. We ate a lot of Vietnamese food, too, and enjoyed Dim Sum, a specialty brunch. It was also a weekend for the performance arts; we all curled up under blankets for the outdoor theatre performance of China Spendor, and Henry and I stole away one night for a Mexican dinner and a performance of see "Meet Me in St. Louis." So maybe it's not all "just like Vietnam, only closer."

Labor Day

No laboring here! Just a fun day of swimming with the cousins!
